Position Summary: 

The Sanitation Supervisor assures that the plant is in compliance with all the company, state, federal, and local laws, regulations, guidelines, standards, etc. relating to sanitation and food safety.  Establishes programs, articulates, and reinforces the responsibility of all employees and to integrate food safety and sanitation standards into the manufacturing process consistently throughout the factory.  Focus on long term goals and planning and implementation of continuous improvement strategies.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Works independently taking initiative toward improved standards of cleanliness through hands-on involvement with sanitation processes
  • Maintains an active presence on the production floor
  • Must know and follow established cleaning practices and principles/Facility Dry vs. Wet
  • Assists with the training, development and coaching of sanitary guidelines
  • Must wear personal protective equipment appropriate for job functions
  • Assures sanitation equipment is maintained(preventative maintenance), operational and correctly used
  • Understands and correctly uses only approved cleaning chemicals safely and efficiently
  • Ensures personnel are using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when required
  • Communicates with Production personnel to determine cleaning priorities according to the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS)/Special Projects
  • Coordinates shift activities to ensure that all scheduled sanitation assignments are completed and maintained according to the MSS
  • Cleaning compounds and sanitizing agents shall be identified, held and stored in a manner that protects against contamination of food, food contact surfaces, or food packaging materials
  • Must be aware of OSHA hazard communication standards and apply this knowledge to daily job functions
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and reports as needed
  • Assist Quality Manager and HR Manager with safety, training, and performance audits related to sanitation
  • Must adhere to the plant’s HACCP Plan
  • Budget/Supply Management
  • Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Manages sanitation functions on a daily basis
  • Manages the master sanitation schedule used by the sanitation crew
  • Manages non routine sanitation functions in cooperation with Quality Assurance and Quality Manager
  • Completes daily post sanitation inspections to ensure all equipment is cleaned, sanitized, and prepared for production
  • Works closely with QA to ensure adequate conditions to produce safe products
  • Creates and updates SSOP’s as needed
  • Works closely with sanitation chemical supplier as it relates to SSOP’s, cleaning chemicals and equipment inspections
  • Works closely (in conjunction with QA) with regulator inspectors such as USDA
  • Ensures all GMP’s, Food Safety, Personal Safety, and company policies are adhered to
  • Provides direction to direct reports as it relates to sanitation
  • Provides initial and ongoing training for direct reports as it relates to sanitation
  • Completes all corrective actions
  • Other duties may be added to this position as required 
  • Meets with Quality Manger on a daily basis to review plant status and determine action plan as needed
  • Secures all departmental  tools in specified locations at shifts end
  • Assist with pest control program monitoring
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement projects and processes

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must possess good interpersonal skills including the ability to work productively and consistently with others
  • Must possess organizational and delegation skills
  • Must be able to perform job duties at a pace that is consistent with the pace set by the departmental Supervisor
  • Must be able to set a pace for job assignments
  • Possess excellent listening and comprehension skills
  • Possess normal to excellent manual dexterity and motor skills
  • Ability to do overhead lifting and bending
  • Possess good hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to lift items up to 50 Lbs.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards
  • 2 year degree or comparable experience
  • Computer skills – Microsoft Office
