Position Summary: Our PetSmart/Chewy team at WellPet is made up of professionals who understand the difference our products make in the lives of pets. We are currently seeking a Financial/Business Analyst to join our team. This position is based in Phoenix, AZ. Reporting to the General Manager of our PetSmart Partnership, the Financial/Business Analyst will be responsible for financial management and customer analytics (including forecasting, productivity analysis and Plan-o-gram development) within the customer team.


Position Description (Responsibilities):

  • Lead the team in identifying, consolidating, analyzing and understanding the business trends and develop action steps/ direction based on the analysis.
  • Help to convert this business information into business intelligence that will drive revenue and profit for the team.
  • Analyze and validate consumption/POS data to build a better understanding of current consumer/customer trends.
  • Lead the strategic analysis of customer provided data to ensure drive assortment, merchandising, pricing and, shelving decisions (including Plan-o-gram development)
  • Customer P&L Management: Financial Gatekeeper of tracking and approvals for customer team spending. Conduct post promotional analysis on a regular basis and share learnings across the sales and marketing organization.
  • Implement tools in which ensure volume and demand connect at the customer – IE forecasting, merchandising event planning and consumption models
  • Champion business needs for the accounts under your responsibility and train, coach and develop the extended team to ensure objectives are met.
  • Coordinate timely forecast accuracy and communication to all levels of the organization
  • Communicate crucial market, trade and competitive information on a timely basis.
  • Live the WellPet Vision, Mission and Values and do whatever it takes for the pets who depend on us

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree; Business or Finance preferred or 4 + years of relevant industry experience in a Finance, Business Analyst, or Category Management role
  • Experience in managing P&L/Budget Management
  • Syndicated Data experience required: IRI, Nielsen, as well as customer provided point of sale (POS) data
  • ROI evaluation and analysis of customer programs
  • Ability to translate financial and syndicated data into best in class customer plans
  • Ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to drive result
  • Demonstrated skills in areas of:
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Strong Organizational skills, managing multiple projects, shifting priorities and deadlines
  • Strong Analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Creative and strategic thinking ability
  • Action and results-oriented
  • Oral, written and strong presentation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Power Point and Word and capable of learning new systems
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%
