Position Summary:

This is an opportunity to partner with our Plant Team on all matters relating to our greatest asset, our people! The Human Resources Manager will champion WellPet’s culture and values as we continue to grow our company. As a member of the Plant Management Team, you will lead the human resources functions and activities to support specific plant business objectives. This is a full time salaried role and will need to accommodate both first and second shift employee needs; a later schedule of 10-7 or 11-8 twice a week will be required. Our Human Resources Manager will report to the Director of Plant Operations with a dotted line into Corporate HR.



Position Description (Responsibilities):

  • Provide guidance and counsel to Director of Plant Operations on all human resources related manners
  • Learn and understand the business so that you can partner with the team to support significant growth plans
  • Lead the recruitment process ensuring top quality candidates using strategies to keep up with the hiring demands and ensure candidate experience at every step in the process
  • Create a People Strategy that promotes and drives healthy employee relations
  • Develop core strategies, policies, and procedures to meet applicable state and federal laws while remaining true to our culture and values
  • Maintain close working relationships with the broader HR team
  • Coach and train supervisors and managers in policies and procedures so that they are confident in handling performance issues, policy violations and employee development
  • Offer thought leadership regarding workforce planning and provide insightful data to guide decision making and solutions
  • Lead the development of talent management programs
  • Solve problems and get to root causes; design and quickly implement solutions in matters such as employee relations issues, policy violations, work complaints, or other employee concerns
  • Live the WellPet Vision, Mission and Values and do whatever it takes for the pets who depend on us



Required Qualifications:       

We really need an individual who is both strategic and tactical solving complex business problems and executing the details. You should be a proven HR business partner and a  creative and effective recruiter with a proven track record of hiring exceptional talent, a relationship builder, a superior communicator, a data lover, a HR champion and a self-motivated get-it-done person. What else should you bring?


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business, or equivalent work experience and training required
  • 7 years of experience within an HR leadership role of which some was in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state labor laws
  • The ability to provide HR support and a presence during night shifts hours as needed
  • Highly organized and detail oriented nature
  • Extensive knowledge of principles and practices of human resources management and administration, employment, classification and compensation, benefits administration, employee relations and employee development
  • The ability to complete a series of goals and tactics including effective decision-making
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability; thrives in a changing and fast paced environment
  • Is a self-aware, self-motivated and self-confident individual who is comfortable operating with minimal direction and who thrives when influencing change
  • Strives to deliver great results and drive continuous improvement
  • Solid conflict resolution skills
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Professional who can maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive issues
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to influence site management on direction of critical site-related issues
  • Ability to multi task and work effectively in a fast paced environment with constantly changing priorities.
  • Computer skills and proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other software/applications. ADP experience is a plus
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
