Position Summary:

The Senior Manager of Category Management will be based out of our Tewksbury, MA office and will report to the Director of Customer Marketing & Category Management. He or she will be responsible for consistently delivering Market Performance Insights to enable WellPet’s short & long terms business objectives.  The Senior Manager of Category Management will play a leadership role within the organization to the deliver market, customer & brand insights based on sales & market analysis.


Position Description (Responsibilities):

  • Lead the Category Management team to deliver best in class category, customer & brand insights at the North America level.  The Senior Manager will own analyzing all available sales & market data in support of meeting our company’s business objectives
  • Establish & Deploy the WellPet Way of Business Insights & Analytics – serve as the Architect of establishing the tools, process & areas of accountability to enable best in class Business Insight Delivery
  • Consolidate all available and disparate data sources to bring clarity to the performance of the market and our brands
  • Direct & Coordinate w/ all marketing & sales teams to enable timely & action oriented insights to provide visibility to the broader organization and drive recommended actions to capitalize on amplifying opportunities and minimizing risks
  • Coach, mentor and develop our category management & sales analytics team members to create a best in class analytical & market performance function within the organization
  • Lead & Conduct efficient assortment analyses and Plan-o-gram development to arm the sales force with the necessary insights and tools to meet customer & WellPet objectives
  • Coordinate and ensure all data sources informing our insights are being utilized and maintained in the most efficient manner
  • Live the WellPet values and culture and doing whatever it takes for the pets who depend on us



Position Requirements:

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing or related field
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a category management role, specifically demonstrating the ability to translate data into action oriented insights and then portraying the story in an impactful & convincing manner
  • Experience owning & implementing new processes, new analytical tools & working cross functionally to deliver upon reporting expectations – this will require understanding of our data systems and working with our IT department
  • Experience working successfully with retail sales teams & cross functionally collaborating to deliver new & improved ways of operating
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with an outcome focused mindset
  • Has managed a team of 2 to 5 members, creating and managing employee development plans with successful outcomes
  • CPG  and pet consumables experience preferred
  • Ability to work within the details while keeping an eye on the big picture
  • Excellent project management abilities, capable of prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously, under tight time constraints and within budget parameters
  • Well-developed written and oral presentation skills with ability to present effectively to all levels of the organization including leadership
  • Demonstrates positive attitude and takes a proactive approach
