Position Summary: The Quality Assurance Technician II is responsible for laboratory based tasks, such as sampling, testing, measuring, recording, and analyzing results while adhering to correct procedures and health and safety guidelines. This position will have a presence out on the production floor, routinely monitoring GMP and other quality compliance throughout the plant. A successful QA Tech II will have a scientific base of knowledge and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels within our company.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform laboratory tests for raw materials and finished products to produce reliable and precise data that will be utilized to hold or release product.
  • Operate and maintain standard laboratory equipment including pipettes, vortex units, temperature blocks and near infra-red analyzers.
  • Use computers and perform mathematical calculations for the analysis of data.
  • Maintain the sample library by properly organizing and storing samples in accordance with procedures.
  • Inventory parts and supply stock to ensure the laboratory is well stocked and resourced.
  • Communicate thoughts orally and in writing in a clear, well-organized manner that effectively informs, and clarifies ideas, information, and lab techniques/procedures to others.
  • Routine in-process verification of PC (preventive control) - extruder temperatures for in-process correction and Shift Manager notification to minimize the impact on finished products; minimization of holds.
  • Routine environmental swabbing to include all plant areas prior to and after sanitation.
  • Daily GMP check list to ensure compliance throughout the plant.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate using the English language.
  • Ability to work in an environment which includes frequent exposure to elements such as odor, noise, heat, cold, dust and chemicals.
  • Good mathematical capability at a high school level
  • Basic computer knowledge, MS Office
  • Must be able to perform physical demands of the position including lifting up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, push/pull up to 50 pounds, reach overhead, bend to the floor and stand for extended period of time, climb ladders and walk on grated/elevated catwalks
  • One year of Quality Assurance related experience
  • High School Degree or GED equivalent
