Position Summary: Our Sales team at WellPet is made up of professionals who understand the difference our products make in the lives of pets. We are currently seeking a results based, analytical sales professional to join our team. This field-based position is responsible for territory management in the New York Metro area with some accountability into mid-Atlantic states.  Reporting to the District Sales Manager, the Account Manager will be responsible for all sales fundamentals at the account and individual store level.

 

Position Description (Responsibilities):

  • Customer development at the regional and local level
  • Key Account Management
  • Store level sales fundamental execution
  • Category development
  • Key Performance Indicators include:
    • Assortment increases
    • New initiative sell in
    • Budget targets per customer plans
    • Merchandising and pricing goals in accordance with WellPet guidelines
    • Share of shelf increases
    • Creative business driving solutions in-store
    • Leverage relationship with in-store personnel
  • Manage pet specialty retailers in your assigned geographic area
  • Territory is comprised of independent chains, local shops and regional/national retailers
  • Delivering results against set sales and placement quotas
  • Reporting on sales activities
  • Implementing promotional sales including national promotions and new products
  • Conducting product seminars, attending trade shows, dog/cat shows and other events with occasional weekend work
  • Living the WellPet values and culture and doing whatever it takes for the pets who depend on us

 

 

Position Requirements:

This position is ideally suited for an individual who has excellent customer development skills, a strong analytical background, excellent verbal & written communication skills, and accountability for results.  Requirements include:

  • A strong sales background with CPG, pet specialty preferred
  • BS degree with field sales internship or professional CPG sales experience required
  • Ability to self-direct, work independently and be flexible
  • Computer proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM
  • Ability to analyze the business across key sales fundamentals of assortment, merchandising, pricing and shelving, turn this data based insight into sales plans, and execute these plans with excellence.
  • Ability to travel approximately 75% of the time
  • The ideal candidate resides in the Metro-New York City area, on Long Island or in Northern New Jersey.
