Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a Customer Business Manager to join our Sales team. Reporting to the General Manager of our Food Drug Mass business, this individual will serve as the primary business owner for our Wal-Mart business, as well as the acquisition of new business at select strategic grocery accounts. We believe that our candidate will be most successful by being based out of the Bentonville, AR region. 


Position Description (Responsibilities):

  • Owns revenue, forecasting, and profitable spend for the assigned accounts
  • Ensures the achievement of both short and long-term financial goals for assigned accounts
  • Owns day to day relationship with assigned accounts with primary goal of delivering short and long-term financial results
  • Fosters partnership with assigned accounts to allow for account penetration up – down – across the entire account
  • Builds sustainable business processes between WellPet and assigned accounts to efficiently deliver joint value and meet commitments
  • Serves as account champion internally to make sure accounts receive support necessary to be successful
  • Serves as the chief author of business performance for assigned accounts both internally and externally
  • Provides leadership to ensure WellPet brand strategies, policies, and sales tactics are understood and implemented within their account or
  • Develops and maintains high visibility with account key decision-makers and decision-influencers to advance business opportunities
  • Utilizes all information available to determine what’s working and not working using a data-based approach
  • Communicates crucial market, trade and competitive information on a timely basis
  • Lives the WellPet values and culture, doing whatever it takes for the pets who depend on us


This position is ideally suited for a sales professional who has prior success managing the Wal-Mart account for a fast-moving CPG manufacturer and who has a business development mindset. Experience working with large national grocery retailers is a plus. This individual is analytical, detail-oriented, well-organized & acts with a sense of urgency. Our Customer Business Manager will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong customer focus and is results-oriented. This person will be able to balance being entrepreneurial with solid account management skills.


Other requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relatable field, MBA preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in sales management in the consumer products industry, specifically with fast moving products or consumables
  • Experience leading and owning Food, Drug, Mass Retail accounts, especially Wal-Mart.
  • Proven track record for managing large, strategic and complex customers
  • Self-directed, flexible, and able to work independently
  • Experience to include collaboration with both internal and external business partners
  • Computer proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time, mostly for business development
  • Team player with a positive, “can do” attitude; takes a proactive approach
  • Passion for pets and their families
  • Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functionally
  • Sees challenges as opportunities and translates them into actionable tasks
