Greg Kean

Vice President of Innovation and Product Development

In His Own Words:

I’ve been a pet parent almost as long as I can remember. When I was six years old, my siblings and I took to feeding a stray cat we named Snoopy. After convincing our parents to take her in, Snoopy spent 18 years as part of our family.

It’s amazing how much pets can impact our lives – whether they are with us for as long as Snoopy or as short a time as Marnie, a Bernese Mountain Dog whom my wife and I rescued from a puppy mill. Our family recently adopted Violet, a Boston Terrier mix. She is a very sweet gal who loves to play and be a part of the family and the neighborhood.

Having studied food and nutrition, I have a deep appreciation and respect for the relationship between what we consume and our body’s chemistry, and I strongly believe that the same principles hold true for our pets. I take great pride in developing natural foods that provide dogs and cats the sustenance they need to live happy, healthy lives.

In His Own Words:

I have loved dogs for as long as I can remember. My wife and I found the perfect black lab we named Reilly shortly after getting married. Fourteen years and three kids later Reilly passed away. We decided to wait a year to make sure our now very active lives could support a new dog and we wanted to find a rescue. Brewster, named after one of our favorite towns in Cape Cod, is a Black Mouth Cur that was rescued from Tennessee. She is now 3 years old and is a very active and important member of our family.
 In His Own Words:
In the past I didn’t give much thought to what I fed my pets. The smart  people I work with  at WellPet have  educated me on the benefits of an  all-natural healthy  pet diet. I am now happy to share what I have learned with other pet lovers.

My job is to help WellPet achieve its business objectives and take advantage of opportunities to better serve pet parents by leveraging technology. WellPet is great place to work and I feel lucky to be part of the team.

In Her Own Words:

It’s incredibly rewarding to work for a company that my own values align with the mission of the organization. WellPet not only cares deeply about pets and their pet parents, we care deeply about our employees and community. Wellies have an opportunity to grow and develop while being part of a supportive culture. One of my favorite days of the year is our Global Service Day. A day where everyone in the company is volunteering in our local communities all working towards making a difference in the lives of pets.

My love for dogs started at the age of four when my family rescued an Irish Setter and dogs have been in my life since then. For the last 16 years, we have been a two dog family and love the different personalities each dog brings to our family. Bean, age 4 – rescued as a puppy and he is a lab mix. Have you ever met a dog that doesn’t greet you at the door? That’s Beanie! Only his tail moves when we walk in so we know that he loves us. Ellie Mae – just a puppy and is a 7 month old golden retriever who is proving to be a very loving and funny dog. Bean and Ellie have become best pals and spend a lot of time playing and running together.

In my free time I love to bake and enjoy time with my family which absolutely includes my dogs.

What's your favorite WellPet product? Both of my dogs go crazy when I pull out the wet canned stews as a topper for their kibble.

In His Own Words
Growing up I had a little Cockapoo named Mitzi who I remember fondly. After raising two boys to good ‘puppy ages’, our family welcomed Izzy in Feb 2019. She’s a little Cockapoo puppy. We’re still getting to know Izzy in the first few weeks of having her, and she’s always surprising us! She’s very playful and cuddly. If you sit down on the floor, she will drop whatever she’s doing and climb into your lap. She’s the best.
What is great about working at WellPet?
At WellPet, there’s always a new challenge and no two days are the same. I really like the category we’re in, I love the mission of our brands and I appreciate our colleagues, who truly approach each day as a new opportunity to further improve the lives of pets.

In His Own Words

In the past I have had both cats and dogs as part of my life. I am definitely more of a dog person though! I love the energy and excitement that dogs bring to every new experience, and how much pleasure they take in simple things like taking a walk. It reminds me to take pleasure in simple things too.

I currently have a 7 year old Jack Russell terrier. Her name is Minnie and she is very high energy! My wife’s parents own her mom and bred her seven years ago. All of the puppies ended up with family members so they get together once or twice a year and cause mayhem! She suffers from food allergies, (poultry, beef and lamb) and was on a prescription diet until I joined WellPet and spoke with Greg Kean about it. I switched her to our fished-based dry dog food about six months ago and she is thriving on it. She recently finished a bag of our new CORE SIX Sustainably-Sourced Salmon recipe and loved it.

Working at WellPet is incredibly fast-paced which I enjoy as we are always working on exciting opportunities. But beyond the products, the people at WellPet really care about pets and the welfare of others. It shows in the standards we set for ourselves as we develop products, and in the ways that Wellies give back to the community. Every month we have a ‘bring your dog to work day’ which keeps the atmosphere light and reminds us what we are all doing there. It is nice to work for a company with a great mission, great people and truly excellent products that I am proud to brag about with friends and on airplanes!

In his own words
I always loved dogs but I didn’t have my first one until I was married. I wanted a Golden Retriever because I knew how friendly they were and what a great family pet they made. My wife and I fell in love with a Golden/Collie mixed breed puppy. We named her Sandy. She was the most loving gentle dog. Everyone adored her and she was our first baby. She lived until she was 13 and it was one of the hardest days of my life when she passed. Today, our family pet is Benji, he is a 7-year-old Lhasa-poo and he is smart and protective. He is terrified of thunder and sleeps right between us in bed. He brings us so much happiness!
Everyone at WellPet is friendly and welcoming and I am happy to be working with such a great group of people. Being a pet lover myself, it’s evident that WellPet employees apply their passion for pets to making the safest, highest-quality foods for the cats and dogs in the family.

In His Own Words

Pets have always been a big part of my life. As a child, my family had a brown poodle called “Boy.” He was my best friend. I can still remember how happy he and I would be when we met after I got home from school. When I left home for University and could only visit on the weekends, I had the feeling that he had been waiting for me all week long. And on Sundays, he would hide as he knew I was leaving again for the week.

My Auntie had a pet specialty store with birds, fish and of course, dog and cat food. As a teenager I would spend my holidays helping her in the shop and taking care of her beautiful Doberman.

Presently, I have a cat named Tigrou and he’s a huge fan of Divine Duos. My daughter is hoping to get a dog as well but we will have to negotiate for approval from our landlord.

There are many reasons why I decided to join Wellpet.  First, WellPet celebrates the unique relationship between pets and their owners. Furthermore, I really like the philosophy that nutrition is the foundation of wellbeing. Joining WellPet, I discovered a lot of passionate and motivated people.

I’m excited to be a part of the WellPet team. I think there is a great opportunity for our differentiated products in Europe, and I’m excited for the challenge!

Martin Bahr

Managing Director- Asia

In His Own Words:

Living in one of the world’s most culturally diverse regions, it’s amazing how similar we all are when it comes to the relationship with our pets. Whether Labrador, Toy Poodle or Munchkin, a pet can positively change a person’s mood or spirit like no one else.

I grew up with dogs for a large part of my life. Thinking back to those years, memories and stories about Gina the Hovavart and Victor the Boxer, never fail to bring a smile to my face. And even though it is a little difficult for me to own a dog at the moment, I have the perfect excuse to spend a lot of time with many cats and dogs: My job.

I take great pride in the fact that every day, together with my team, we bring the WellPet brands to more pet parents and their cats and dogs in Asia and Australia. Helping them to live happier, healthier lives with their pets.
