Early Years

  • 1926 – Old Mother Hubbard Natural Dog Treats was founded in 1926, but our roots extend back to 1873 as A. Hubbard & Son bakery in Gloucester, MA, makers of hard tack sea biscuits.
  • 1961 – Old Mother Hubbard® was purchased by Jim Scott Sr., a professional in animal nutrition with a commitment to developing highly nutritious products for pets

2007

Introduced Wellness® Feline Dietary Solutions (for cats) – Complete Health, Healthy Weight, Kitten Health and Indoor Health.

Debuted Wellness® CORE®, a grain–free, protein focused cat food that addresses key health concerns.

Introduced Wellness® Just for Puppy, a complete line of nutritionally balanced food and treats for the puppies.

Debuted Wellness® CORE® Dog food, a revolutionary higher-protein, grain free dry dog food that is thoughtfully balanced to safely feed adult canines every day.

Created the first line of sliced wheat–gluten free feline meals available in a pouch, Wellness® Healthy Indulgence® Everyday Entrees.

2008

Expanded the Wellness® CORE® Dog Line with the addition of fish-based higher protein, grain-free Wellness® CORE® Ocean Dry Dog Food.

Debuted Wellness® Super5Mix® Large Breed Puppy and Wellness® Super5Mix® Large Breed Adult Health, as well as Wellness® Super5Mix® Small Breed Adult Health; formulated specifically for the distinctly different dietary needs of large breed and small breed dogs.

Introduced Wellness® Pure Delights® irresistibly all–natural moist, meaty cat treats.

Expanded the Wellness® Healthy Indulgence® Everyday Entrees line to include the first ever grain–free and wheat gluten–free sliced morsels in sauce cat meals available in pouch.

Introduced Wellness CORE® Canned Dog Food and Canned Cat Food Recipes to accompany the Wellness CORE® dry food family of higher protein, grain–free pet diets.

Debuted Holistic Select® Small & Mini Breed Adult Dry Dog Food and Small & Mini Breed Puppy Food.

2009

Wellness® dry and canned dog food lines and Holistic Select® dry dog foods again named to the Editor's Choice List by The Whole Dog Journal.

Wellness® introduced All–Natural Chicken & Cheddar Cheese WellBars® and Grain–free Lamb & Apples WellBars® dog snacks.

The Wellness® Simple Food Solutions® line is re–introduced

Reintroduction of the complete Holistic Select® line of advanced cat food and dog food in October.

2010

Wellness® dry dog food lines and Holistic Select® dry dog foods again named to the Editor's Choice list by The Whole Dog Journal.

Holistic Select® launched new Holistic Select® Weight Management, Chicken Meal & Peas Recipe Dry Dog Food to help dogs lose weight in a healthy, nutritionally balanced way.

Wellness® debuted new Wellness® Stews; adds to its canned offering with six slow–cooked cuts and gravy classics for dogs:

Eagle Pack® debuts new look and new Eagle Pack® Canned Dog Formulas in four varieties – Chicken, Beef, Lamb & Turkey.

Old Mother Hubbard® expands its treat line with a new look and 15 new varieties, including Soft & Chewy Bitz® and Mother's Solutions™ soft & chewy dog treats

2011

New Wellness® Cubed, Sliced and Minced Grain-Free Canned Cat Food recipes were introduced in twelve new flavorful varieties.

Holistic Select® introduced new and improved Holistix® Natural Wheat Free Biscuits for Dogs.

Wellness® debuted two innovative dog food recipes in its Super5Mix® Small Breed line Small Breed Healthy Weight Recipe and Small Breed Just for Puppy Recipe.
