Senior IT Project Manager << Back to Careers

Position Summary:

The Senior IT Project Manager will report to the VP of IT and be based out of our Tewksbury, MA Headquarters location. They will be responsible for developing, coordinating and maintaining IT project plans in a cross-functional, global environment. This position provides leadership to the IT project teams and is the liaison between IT, our internal business units and third-party partners. This individual will define project objectives, oversee quality control over the life cycle of projects and manage project communication plans.


Principal Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple mid to large-scale, cross-functional IT projects across various functional disciplines to include people, processes and technology from inception to implementation. This includes:
    • Identifies objectives, requirements, scope and success criteria
    • Budget development and tracking
    • Resource needs identification and acquisition (internal and external)
    • Sets project timelines
    • Sets and actively manages priorities
    • Manages critical path items and project scope
    • Oversees design, development and rollout and reporting of group activities to team and executive sponsors.
    • Develops and managing project communication plan
    • Build and grow business relationships and continually develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of WellPet’s overall business to drive clarity on project needs and priorities
    • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management
    • Prepare for stage gate reviews and apply quality assurance procedures
    • Prepare and participate in regular IT Portfolio meetings, providing progress updates to WellPet’s Business Technology Investment Committee (BTIC) and Senior Leadership Team
    • Liaise with project stakeholders regularly through status meetings, emails or in-person updates
    • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
    • Assess project risk, manage and mitigate risk, and decide when to escalate issues to sponsors
    • Facilitate timely issue resolution with the ability to manage conflict appropriately.
    • Manage change process effectively
    • Conduct project post-mortem reviews and benefit realization assessments, and deliver recommendation to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
    • Have an intellectual passion to work on new initiatives and with cross functional project teams
    • Ensure project documentation is current, accurate, complete and secure
    • Perform project and team member roles, and other duties as required and assigned


Technical Requirements

This position requires advanced project management ability, including attention to detail, dedication to quality delivery, conflict resolution, ability to prioritize and follow through, manage project resources and strong communication skills on all levels.  This individual will be required to manage all aspects of multiple projects, as well as other assignments. To accomplish this, successful candidates will need:

  • A BS or BA in computer science or related field or equivalent professional experience required
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in technical and business applications support and implementation
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management
  • Experience working with ERP Systems (IFS, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics etc.) and prior experience successfully managing several ERP implementations or upgrades
  • Experience creating technical project plans with project management software
  • A demonstrated ability to manage and control multiple, complex, large scale projects with or without a business project manager
  • Proven success driving methodology and building best practices
  • Agile project management experience
  • Ability to be successful working with matrix and remote teams, including international.
  • Results-oriented and self-motivated with a commitment to quality and a focus on execution.
  • Additional Preferred qualifications include:
    • Ø MBA
    • Ø PMP Certification
    • Ø Experience in a CPG, Manufacturing or distribution environment
    • Ø Familiarity with business applications such as CRM, WMS, Demand Planning
