Position Summary: Our Innovation and Innovation team at WellPet is made up of professionals who understand the difference our products make in the lives of pets. We are seeking to add a Innovation Manager to our pack! This person should be a highly motivated, results-driven, Innovation Product Manager, with a proven track record of success to join our team. This Manager will lead new product innovation launches, including upfront and ongoing analysis and tactical execution, as we expand our brands with the goal of growing revenues and households.
They will play a key role ensuring the team can move faster, by streamlining processes to ensure a nimble, agile, and repeatable approach to innovation. Consumer and customer needs are constantly evolving, and thus we must be faster, more iterative, and more creative in how we work together. If you enjoy rolling-up-your-sleeves to work in a fun, fast-paced environment and seeing projects through form idea to final production this is the role for you. You will champion collaboration across business units; Brand, Marketing, R&D, Operations, and Sales, helping to keep projects on track in service to a highly deadline driven product development environment. You are undaunted by obstacles approaching them with positivity and creative problem solving, helping your co-workers do what it takes to deliver project in-budget and on-time. 
Position Description (Responsibilities):
? Monitor the market for new product innovations, competitor actions, lifestyle trends, consumer and market trend insights, and emerging technologies.
? Maintain sharp awareness of macro and micro trends impacting the pet food industry, and competition, along with needs, attitudes, and behaviors of pet parents (consumers), our brand vision, and strategic priorities.
? Identify areas of opportunity, ideate, and test new concepts, ultimately creating and presenting busines case for new product concepts to support innovation.
? Collaborate with R&D, operations, brand marketing, and commercial teams to scope and create the business case for prioritizing innovation investments. Make recommendations regarding product objectives and strategy, positioning, pricing, packaging, and product lifecycle.
? Lead cross-functional teams to develop new product innovations, from concept through commercialization and launch, including product and packaging.
? Ensure the voice of the consumer is heard in all innovation workstreams - conduct and analyze consumer research to determine new product opportunities and to validate new concepts.
? Responsible for analysis of syndicated data, competitive trends, and forecasting.
? Manage and lead outside agencies on relevant projects ensuring effective budgeting and timelines are delivered
Required Skills:
? Classically trained innovation product manager within a consumer/brand centric business, who is passionate and comfortable operating within a smaller, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
? Passions for idea generation through delivery - must be willing to roll-up-their-sleeves as this job is equal parts strategic and tactical.
? Strong data analytical and technical skills; comfortable with Nielsen data.
? Strong communication and presentation skills with an aptitude for data visualization 
? Consumer market research experience, to include study design, management, and application of various types of market research tools 
? Strong planning and problem-solving skills 
? Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
? Ability to influence others both up and across the organization
? Strong knowledge of product development life cycle
? Knowledge of CPG marketing vehicles and marketing fundamentals.
? Emotional intelligence; this role requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team; owning the work and doing what it takes to get the job done.   
? Comfortable with ambiguity, ability to work well in an entrepreneurial environment, and be thoughtful with regard to risk taking.
Requirements:
? Bachelor's Degree or MBA
? 5+ years in brand marketing positions in consumer-packaged goods (CPG), with depth in innovation
? Critical, creative, and strategic thinking capability
? Ability to manage and mentor junior team members
? Learning mindset with ability to ask provocative questions that uncover new ideas
? Demonstrated empathy for consumer needs, mindsets, and behaviors
? Eye for design that can turn a “napkin sketch” into a more polished concept
? Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative research by creating actionable frameworks
? Ability to craft well-designed deliverables and documents in PowerPoint with an aptitude for data visualization and story telling 
? Good understanding of the new concept development process
? Excellent writing and communication skill
